You-Picking

There’s an abundance of greens available currently in the garden. The bounty is available to households who have signed up for a You-Pick Greens share or a Homesteader Share. It’s an optional addition to extend the local eating season by 8 weeks  total, before and and after the distribution season.

Things to keep in mind if you’ve signed up for a share:

* The whiteboard in the barn lists which greens are currently available and where they can be found. Check this out first thing upon arrival to the farm.
* There are bags, knives and scissors in the barn. Always return the harvest tools to the table or black bookshelf where you found them.
* If you have not harvested before or are unclear, let’s do it together the first time. This week we’ll definitely be in the field Thursday evening and Saturday morning if you want to stop by then; otherwise, email us and we can schedule a time.

* Pick from beds marked with the orange flags. There may be other beds nearby that look appealing, but please refrain from picking a bed until it is marked.
* This share is intended for your immediate family. It is not a free pass to harvest for individuals not in your household. That said, harvest as much as you would like for your household, there are no limitations to the amount or frequency of your harvests.
* Harvest during the daylight hours only.  On hot days, the mornings or evenings are best.
* If you want to wash and spin dry the greens at the farm instead of at home, there is a green salad spinner at the end of the barn next to the hose.
