Meet the farm interns!

Our summer interns have been a delight to host. Maggie, Hannah, and Emma have many unique traits, but some commonalities are- talented and curious in the kitchen, passion for resilient local food systems, and willingness to roll up their sleeves and dive into tasks of all sorts. Read on to learn more about each of them. They are all happy to connect if you are visiting littleGrasse!

Emma

Hello! I am Emma Rosher, I am a rising junior at St. Lawrence University! I am originally from Northern Virginia and love to be outdoors. I am majoring in both Environmental Studies and Sociology to ultimately learn about systems that lessen the divide between humans and the environment. I am excited to be an apprentice here at littleGrasse to learn from a real-world system that critiques the isolation within the United States’ broken food systems. I am grateful to be a part of such an vibrant community this summer where Flip, Bob, Carolyn, and you all have exemplified how to create an intentional connection between consumers and their food!

Maggie

Hi all- I am a recent graduate of St. Lawrence University, where I studied Environmental Studies and Sociology. I first discovered littleGrasse through a community-based learning course I took my sophomore year, and have since become hooked on food systems, particularly the overlap of sustainable agriculture and food justice, which led me here! I’m from Maryland just outside of DC, and I grew up spending time in the Adirondacks at my family’s camp on Lake Champlain each summer. I’m very excited to be extending my time in the north country! My favorite veggie that we’re currently growing here is Swiss chard because it’s pretty to look at and has a good crunch, and I’m also eagerly awaiting tomato season! Looking forward to meeting all of you this summer! -Maggie

Hannah

Howdy! My name is Hannah McMillan from Rangeley, ME, and I’m delighted to be one of the interns on littleGrasse community farm this summer. My passion for regenerative agriculture took strong hold at the small-scale, family-owned Grasshopper Hill Farm in my hometown, where I worked for 3 summers. I believe strengthening local food systems is imperative to building more reciprocity between people and the land, and I admire the work of Bob, Flip, and Carolyn, who put this into practice. I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to build on my farming foundation at littleGrasse and get to know the Canton community better! I look forward to greeting everyone as you swing by! A bit more about me: I love to cook, play outside, listen to/play music, and walk my dogs! This fall marks the start of my senior year at St. Lawrence University, and I feel so lucky to have this connection here at littleGrasse moving forward. Hope to see you in the dirt!

As farmers, we are fortunate and humbled to be sharing our space with curious young folks!
-Bob and Flip
