At littleGrasse we like to say we aren’t selling food, we are feeding people. While the produce is essential, there’s many other benefits joining us in building community food resiliency.
1. Community space, open to all. All members are welcome to enjoy the fields with family, visitors and friends, anytime during the growing season (May-October). We also offer tours and educational opportunities throughout the year. School and community groups are welcome to contact us for more information.
2. Events and workshops. Over the years, we’ve tried many different on-farm activities and some definitely stuck. These include fall preservation (such as kraut/kimchi making), Swap it! Community Trading Event and the occasional barn party with rollicking music. As with the entire spirit of the farm, members are welcome to participate to make these a success.
3. littleGrasse Lending. There’s an array of books available for short-term loan in the share room. These books cover a range of food-related topics including cooking, preservation, root cellaring, CSA handbooks and gardening guides. We hope it will inspire members to get creative in the kitchen and lessen the intimidation with cooking come vegetables for the first time or in new ways. Here’s a glimpse at some of the titles, there’s more!
4. Garden Mornings. Folks are always welcome in the fields, that’s just how we roll. But twice a season (June & September) we host a larger community morning in the field, with tasks for all ages and abilities, with a potluck lunch and live music to follow.
