Farm Happenings
Tomato season is here. We harvest all the slicing and roma/paste varieties from a farther field every two days and make them available in the wash stand area. The cherry tomatoes are available as you pick anytime from Irene’s field. If all goes smoothly, we will have them consistently from now until frost.
littleGrasse flowers are popping up in an Adirondack wedding this weekend. For several years, shareholder Amanda loved wandering the flower patch, gathering her favorite blooms. Eventually she relocated out of Canton, and took a job in the Blue Line to be closer to the people and the mountains she loved so dearly. Before the pandemic, she asked if we would consider growing flowers for her wedding. She wanted to arrange bouquets with friends to bring some of the joy she felt in the farm fields to the ceremony. It sounded like fun -and we knew she wasn’t an ultra perfectionist- so we were in! The roller coaster of 2020 delayed everything but Amanda reached out again in late winter of this year and the plan was back in action. The August date was ideal to be in peak diversity. On Friday, our crew had a blast finding a spectrum of shades to fill the buckets. Today is the ceremony and we are sending big hugs of color down to Star Lake.
The Free Choice, Summer share ends on August 31st. If you originally signed up for summer only but want to extend your share to the end of October, email littlegrasse@gmail.com.
Stop by to enjoy some field time with the crew on Tuesday nights 5:30-7:30pm or Saturdays anytime 8:30am-12:30pm.

Quiches can be loaded with any vegetables you like. This week’s version had scallions, broccoli, zucchini, kale and cherry tomatoes. Making enough for leftovers is a wise idea, since the flavor improves on day two.
Tips for Success

From small cherries to large slicing tomatoes, there are a range of varieties to try. We started eating open faced tomato sandwiches yesterday: toasted chewy bread, tomatoes, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. It’s hard to beat the classics. Other additions include cucumbers, pickles or cheddar cheese.
Crops AvailableThis list and availability are subject to change, check the share whiteboard at the start of every visit. If you are unsure about how to harvest: ask us! In person, via text or email.
