9/6/2020 Farm Update

While the farm share focuses on vegetables, herbs and flowers, we enjoy sharing the fruits of the Dutchess tree when it bears well. What fun we had during the apple harvest, five of us tackled the job and they are now available as part of the pickup for this week only. The apples are good fresh or in baked goods. We look forward to pressing some of the haul to enjoy cider here at the farm throughout the winter.

For those who already signed up, the weekly egg share has started and ends in 8 weeks at the close of October. Pick them up from the share fridge anytime during the week and remember to mark by your name on fridge door. They will be delivered here each Saturday. The share is already sold out.

Tips for Success

  • How to Prepare Edamame
    • Pull pods from plant
    • Boil pods in ample salted water for 6-8 minutes
    • Slip beans from pods
    • Enjoy straightaway or add beans to other recipes
  • Wash or sanitize your hands when arriving to the farm and always wear a mask in the share room.
  • Aim to be thorough when picking beans by harvesting all medium and large beans from each plant before moving down the row.. Look at the plant from all sides, there’s often pods in the middle of the bed being left behind and growing oversized.
