Farm Happenings
Drought continues: While we were hopeful, the forecasted storm didn’t visit littleGrasse last night or this evening. We’ve gotten less than a tenth of an inch of rain in June and continue to irrigate regularly.
Fall carrot planting
Fall carrots planted. Carrots are on the short-list of favorites for most households at the farm (along with tomatoes, spinach and garlic) so our fall planting is large. We seeded those roots this week, our third and final planting. It’s essential to keep the soil continuously moist during carrot germination which can take up to 21 days.
Join us in the field any Wednesday evening 5:30-7:30pm or Saturday anytime 8:30am-1pm. We will be in the field on the 4th, and figure it’s as good a way as any to recognize our independence.

Beautiful basil grows symmetrical opposing pairs of leaves. To harvest: pinch or cut just below a set of these leaves. These clusters can be harvested from the top of every branch on a plant and the remaining “understory” fills in quickly.

- Take a stroll! Reserve a few minutes to get comfortable by touring new areas to observe the crops as they develop through the season.
