For an unnaturally warm spring and summer thus far, our past three Garden Mornings have intersected with rain and clouds. We’ve had smaller groups than usual due to the weather. While there’s nothing that we can do about that, we look ahead to upcoming hefty tasks. We encourage folks to come out on non-Garden Morning times which are listed below.
1. Soon we will be harvesting garlic and shallots, which is a great job for large groups, with standing and sitting tasks alike. We hope your household will join us at the farm this month for the harvest.
2. Weeding abounds in the fields! July is an essential time to keep up the many planted areas. The food is in the ground, but much of it is not yet ready for harvest. At this point in the season, we work hard to rotate through the plantings and keep up on weeding so the subsequent harvest is easier and yield is not negatively affected.
