I hope you have all been out to enjoy the spinach and herbs. There’s also been a special addition (as available) of asparagus. We’ve been harvesting it from the lower garden and bunching it for Lucky 13 folks. Some of the spinach bed is trying to bolt (go to seed). It’s still harvestable and the leaves taste delicious. Remember to look at the You Pick board in the barn before harvesting, to inform yourself on specific instructions or possible limits for a particular crop. As ever, please only harvest crops marked with white posts and orange flags.

I just marked 3 exciting new beds for harvest last night. There’s an excellent bed of mixed greens (two varieties) available for pick. Though the plants are not yet large, we can begin to lightly harvest the kale (two varieties) and rainbow chard. For now we are limiting the amount per visit, but if the plants continue to thrive, there will be more generous quantities allowed later on. You will notice that the kale bed also includes head lettuce (3 varieties) inter-planted among the kale. The most advanced heads are now ready to harvest. As they mature, you pickers can continue to cut the entire heads out of the bed. Then the kale will get big and take over the entire space.
