There’s abundance in the CHERRY TOMATO patch. There’s also lots of GROUND CHERRIES.
Both are available for you-picking. Members are welcome to come out to pick anytime during daylight hours. Both are located near the barn on wide, accessible pathways. The cherry tomatoes can be found on the path that leads from the share barn to the in-ground greenhouse. There is a full trellised bed of them on the right hand side. The ground cherries can be found on the path from the barnyard that runs south towards the park road. There is a full bed of these low-lying plants on the left. The ripe fruits release from the plant and fall to the ground. Hence the name ground cherry. They are ripe when bright orange and are delicious raw or cooked into pies, jams and tropical flavored hot sauces.
Both crops are ripe for the picking and should be enjoyed before the weather turns chilly or wet (neither are frost tolerant).
