Farm Happenings
Update to health policies at littleGrasse
In line with the recent change via CDC, we are no longer requiring a mask in the wash stand for fully vaccinated individuals. Here are the new guidelines, which are also posted in the washstand area.
1. Every visitor to the farm must upon arrival wash or sanitize their hands, children included.
2. If any member of your household over the age of 2 is not fully vaccinated, they must wear a mask when in the wash stand area.
3. If you are contagiously sick, kindly do not visit the farm.
4. Practice social distancing in the wash stand, maintaining 6 plus feet whenever possible with people that are not in your household.
If you’d like to learn more about how we grow the food or simply get some exercise, members are welcome to participate in the daily activities of the farm.
- Tuesdays anytime 5:30-7pm

We transplanted thousands of items this week. The items that will be ready most quickly are head lettuces, summer squash and cucumbers. The crops that take the longest time to mature are tomatoes, winter squash and peppers.

Some of our transplanting sessions were at the close of the day, when the plants get a break from the heat of the sun and have a cooler overnight to settle into their new home.

For a soothing tea, harvest fresh chamomile. The flowers and greenery can both be steeped. When chamomile is regularly harvested, it produces more blooms over a longer period of time. To harvest, gather a cluster of blooms and greens and cut off the top couple inches.
Tips for Success
- When harvesting items in the middle of a warm day, dunk into cold water for a full minute to remove the field heat. This is a useful technique that prolongs the shelf-life of items, especially greens. Another option is harvesting early in the morning before the day gets too warm.
