Here’s a batch of scallons/green onions that were started in the greenhouse and transplanted into the gardens during a recent cloudy day.

It was a relief to have a bit of precipitation this week. It’s a dry spring which translates to more labor watering. We are thankful that we have a good supply of water between the pond and our well.

The big push of spring transplanting is finally complete. We planted 9 varieties of tomatoes and 7 varieties apiece of sweet and hot peppers. Diversity is a key part of our plantings both across species and within crops.

Drop over this Tuesday evening to plant dahlias and sunflowers with us 5:30-7pm. Or Saturday anytime 8:30am-12:30pm.

For sale in wash stand area: Meat & Maple! Support another shareholder family by purchasing Morley Maple by the quart or half gallon. Also, the freezer is stocked with cuts from 8 O’clock Ranch.

There’s some juicy ingredients for salads this week, including tender chinese cabbage. Cut the cabbage with a knife, right at the surface of the soil to remove the entire head.

For this week only, enjoy the delicate head lettuce in the greenhouse. There is more head lettuce nearly ready in the field. You’ll find field lettuce exposed to the wind and weather, develops a thicker (though still tasty) leaf.
