Farm Happenings

Fresh trout dinner with purple mashed potatoes and chard.

There’s two full weeks remaining in the share and we invite you to make the most of the many greens along with carrots, squash and more. If your household is interested in harvesting kale or chard to blanch and freeze, be our guest!

One hallmark of autumn is planting garlic and shallots. In addition to our production field of 6,000+

garlic for distribution, we are expanding a “Garlics of the World,” plot which will house 101 varieties this year. It’s a fun side project that speaks to our respect for biodiversity. Do you want to plant garlic with us? Come on Saturday, October 24th anytime 9am-1pm.

Bob and Ethan got out on the water fishing multiple times this week. The Grasse River rocks!

Tips for Success

  • One of my favorite salads is a quick composition

    healthy carrot crop!

of Chinese cabbage with cilantro, shredded carrots and onions and a dressing of oil, lime juice, minced garlic with S&P.  (or a peanut sauce- Chinese cabbage loves peanut sauce…)

  • How was this farm season for you? Later in the year we’ll share a brief survey. Your feedback helps us in winter planning, from crops to communication, it’s good to know your thoughts, including straight-up constructive feedback.
