Here’s a clear bonus to being a Year-Round Shareholder (rather than fresh). The asparagus harvest is before our official distribution begins in June. As such, it is harvested and distributed to the year-round shares. Lucky them! This versatile vegetable is a welcome bridge from spring to summer before other bulky vegetables are available. It pairs well with other offerings this time of year (wild leeks, fiddle heads, chives, overwintered herbs)

Store upright in a container with enough water that covers the bottom of the container. The tops will be sticking out of the top. If you are trying to save if for many days, cover the top of the open container, with a plastic bag. This will keep the stalks away from the direct chilliness of the fridge.
