General Info
We offer several mixes of greens that range from completely mild to a little spicy. As we plant greens every two weeks throughout the season, we generally alternate mixes to keep the distributions varied. If you find a mix to spicy for your fresh eating tastes, toss them into a stir fry or soup to tame the flavors through heat.
Varieties We Grow
Johnny’s Selected Seeds in Albion, Maine provides a range of tasty, diverse premixed options that we regularly plant including:
Allstar Mix– This mix is comprised of all lettuces. It’s eye catching and mild, including Green Oakleaf, Red Oakleaf, Green Romaine, Red Romaine, Lollo Rossa, and Redleaf lettuces.
Ovations Mix– A great combination of both mild and spicy ingredients. This mix includes Red Mustard, Mizuna, Tatsoi, Kale, and Arugula.
Premium Mix-A blend of greens and reds in an array of leaf shapes and textures. The flavors are equally diverse: spicy to mild to slightly sweet. This mix includes Red Mustard, Green Mustard, Chinese Cabbage, Pac Choi, and Tatsoi. This is the mix shown in the featured image.
Storage
These are best fresh. If you wash these before refrigerating, be sure to remove excess moisture through spinning or draining. Moisture in the storage bag accelerates deterioration.
